Privacy policy
The short version: I collect only what I need to reply to you and scope your project, I never sell or share your details for marketing, and this website sets no cookies. The full version is below, in plain English.
Who I am
This website is operated by Malte Warncke, a sole trader trading as Speedcraft.dev, based in New Zealand. For anything to do with this policy or your personal information, email contact [at] speedcraft.dev.
What I collect, and why
- Contact form — your name, email address, website address, what you are interested in and your message, so I can reply and tell you what I would look at. Your submission is sent to me as an email. It is not stored in a database on this website.
- Server logs — my host records each request (IP address, time, page, browser) so the website can be served and kept secure.
- Analytics — aggregate counts of page views and clicks, with no cookies, no cross-site tracking and no personal profiles.
To keep out spam, the contact form carries a hidden field that automated submissions tend to fill in. When you send the form, my host Vercel also checks technical signals from your browser (BotID) to tell people from bots. There is no tracking of what you do on the website beyond the aggregate counts above.
How your information is used
Only to answer your enquiry, scope the work and — if we work together — deliver it. Your details are never sold, never shared with anyone else for their marketing, and never added to a mailing list.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies, which is why you see no consent banner. Fonts are served from this website rather than from a font service, so visiting does not reveal your IP address to a third party.
Analytics
To understand how the website is used I use Vercel Web Analytics, provided by my host. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visits are counted with a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you across other websites, and I see only aggregate numbers. There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing identifies you.
Who else sees it
- Vercel Inc. — hosting, server logs, aggregate visit statistics and the bot check on the contact form
- Resend — delivery of the contact form email, as with any email you send
- Calendly — only if you book a call. Calendly is based in the United States and receives the name, email address and time you enter on its booking page.
How long I keep it
Enquiries are not stored on this website. They exist as an email in my inbox, and I keep the ones that lead to work as normal business records, for example so I can refer back to what we agreed. Enquiries that did not lead to work are deleted after 12 months.
Security
The website is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy, form data is transmitted encrypted, and nothing you submit is stored in a public-facing database.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask me to delete it. Email contact [at] speedcraft.dev and I will respond as quickly as I can.
I handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Because I also work with clients in Europe, the GDPR applies to visitors in the EU and the EEA (Art. 3(2)), and the Australian Privacy Act may apply to visitors in Australia. If you are in the EU or the EEA, the legal basis for handling your enquiry is my legitimate interest in replying to you, and for server logs my legitimate interest in running a secure website.
If you are in New Zealand and are not happy with my response, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner (opens in a new tab).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page with a new date below. How work with me runs is covered separately by the terms of service.
